Elkhorn, NE: Supporting Sylvia

Heather Perkins with Select Rehabilitation organized 4 internal fundraisers at Brookestone Meadows to help support Sylvia, our therapy dog’s, family with her medical expenses as she recovers from a car accident.

Over the course of 3 weeks we served up enchiladas, ate hot dogs, drew for raffle baskets and enjoyed treats from a bake sale. Through these combined efforts we raised $2,179! Congratulations to Heather on a great job of bringing our community together in support of our sweet therapy dog. Fundraising efforts continue through the Brookestone Meadows Facebook page.

Sylvia was hit by a car around Mother’s Day and underwent extensive surgery to fix a hip and knee. Sylvia has three months of intense rehabilitation ahead of her before she can come back to work at Brookestone Meadows Care and Rehabilitation facility. Sylvia’s mom, Staci Slater, is an Occupational Therapist with Select Rehabilitation who works at Brookestone Meadows. Staci embodies Brookstone’s Mission of Dignity in Life, and our Vision and Values. It is a privilege to have an opportunity to support Staci and Sylvia, who selflessly give so much to our residents and team.

Integrity: Our relationships, services and decisions will speak for our desire to always act with honesty, fairness, and compassion. People learn from interacting with us that they can trust us to be who we say we are and do what we say we’ll do. We strive to act in a way that will make God smile at our efforts.
