Wahoo, NE: Spring Is In The Air

“Behold, my friend, the spring is come; the earth has gladly received the embraces of the sun, and we shall soon see the results of their love!” –Sitting Bull

Although it hasn’t been too sunny outside lately, it sure has been inside!

One of our frequent visitors started some garden vegetables from seed at home, and recently delivered. They’re already off to a great start, and we can’t wait to get our garden boxes prepped and planted. We’ve planted strawberries in stacked pots and are looking forward to the sun making its debut so we can eat the fruits of our labor.

We were all very excited to see our baby ducks come back and make their home on the front pond. It’s always a joy to see how they’ve grown, what colors they are, and the fun personalities they have developed. They tend to draw visits from community members, which we love to see as well!

The Life Enrichment room has also turned into a hatchery again. This time our baby chicks hatched overnight, so there wasn’t a large crowd to watch the excitement. However, the day prior the eggs were sure rocking and we enjoyed hearing the peeps from inside the shells. We currently have three baby chicks that will be with us until they’re ready to head to their home on the farm.

Of course with all that planting, planning, and caring, we get hungry! We enjoyed a May Day treat of specially flavored popcorn, which was not only delicious but also made the whole building smell amazing. We enjoyed hearing and sharing everyone’s May Day memories, which brought a smile to everyone’s face as we handed out the over 150 bags of popcorn!

Thank you to our visitor and friend Kelly, for growing and donating the vegetable plants, strawberries and stack-able pots, as well as bird seed. Thank you to our Administrator, Brooke, and her family for giving our baby ducks a home and care until they were ready to return to the pond. Thank you to team member Jacquie, for bringing chicken eggs for us to hatch. And thank you to team members Tammy and Denise for planning a Poppin’ May Day!

Quality Life: We will create a living environment that radiates love, peace, spiritual contentment, dignity and safety, while encouraging personal independence.
