Residents and staff of Heritage Care Center celebrated National Pie Day yesterday by making homemade pie crusts filled with blueberry, peach, apple, and cherry pie filling. Conversations around the table included stories about picking strawberries for the popular strawberry/rhubarb pie (a favorite for many), the use of lard versus butter for the crust, making lattice pie tops and the different ways to crimp the edges of the pie.

This activity certainly stirred the sense of smell and taste as all were anxious to get them baked and looked forward to eating a slice of pie with their Heritage friends.

It was an enjoyable moment to come together and reminisce.
