Lincoln, NE: Southlake Village Chaplain, Pastor Peggy McClain Named Professional of the Year

The Southlake Village Family is excited to announce that the Lincoln Coalition for Older Adult Health Promotion has named Chaplain, Pastor Peggy McClain Professional of the Year! The Coalition for Older Adult Health Promotion recognizes one person annually that has made positive contributions to older adult health promotion in the Lincoln area. We are so proud of Peggy and thankful for all she does to support our resident, team members and families!

Below is her nomination:

It is an honor to nominate Pastor Peggy McClain chaplain at Southlake Village Rehabilitation and Care Center for the Professional of the Year Award. If you know Peggy, you know that she is a very unconventional chaplain and pastor – even a self-proclaimed religious mutt. Pastor Peggy has not always been a pastor she has worked security, fraud investigation and even had a short, yet exciting stint as a DMV examiner. Peggy has also led an unconventional personal life, but I will let her get into that if she would like. All life has handed Peggy has led her to true calling, pastoral care.
Peggy has been with Southlake Village for almost 5 years and has touched so many lives in such a short amount of time. She is always there for a resident in need, a team member who needs a shoulder to cry on, or a family that is grieving. When a resident at Southlake Village is near the end of their life Pastor Peggy is a god send, she takes extra time to love on and care for that person and their family. Her dog Amazing Grace “Gracie” is also a huge part of this care, as the two will often sit vigil. After a resident has passed Peggy is one of the first people the team members call, no matter what time of day or night Peggy arrives at Southlake to help the team.
Pastor Peggy has taken the time to take Pastoral Care to the next level at Southlake Village, enlisting the help of her congregation at Hallam UCC to provide handmade quilts for those at the end of their life. She also ensures that Veterans are draped with the American flag at the time of their death.
Pastor Peggy McClain has a true “Yes I Can” attitude, always willing to help others and ensure their comfort and care.

Excellent Teams:  We will select and develop team members who radiate warmth, compassion and respect while skillfully performing their duties.
