Geneva, NE: Donna Wilkins-NNFA/NALA-Volunteer of the Year

Each year the Nebraska Nursing Facility Association asks for nominations for special awards which are given during their convention banquet. This year’s banquet was held on Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at the Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln. One of the honors awarded was the “Volunteer of the Year”. Applications from across the state were reviewed and the award was given to Donna Wilkins of Geneva. Donna has spent the last ten years serving juice to the residents at Heritage Crossing. She does that twice a day Monday through Friday. The residents and staff both look forward to Donna coming with her cart and warm smile. She takes time to visit with the folks and add a little sunshine to their day. When she gets a much deserved vacation to go see her out of state children, she often asks if she’ll have her job when she gets back. To this she receives a resounding “YES”!
Donna had several family members attend the banquet with her along with staff members from Heritage Crossings. Jack and Eldora Vetter, owners of Heritage Crossings, were also on hand to congratulate Donna. Donna was awarded with a special plaque, a bouquet of flowers , and a standing ovation from the 500 attendees.
We are very blessed to have many wonderful volunteers here at Heritage Crossings and especially those like Donna who put so much heart into her service. Congratulations Donna! We sincerely appreciate all you do for our family here.
