Geneva, NE: Resident-Family Picnic/Carnival 2017

The Sunday of our picnic started out a bit “gloomy” with a light mist falling, but by afternoon the weather was absolutely beautiful for the many outdoor activities that “popped up” in the Pond Area at Heritage Crossings. The Carnival games and tables and chairs appeared out of nowhere and we had a wonderful group of FBLA members and their sponsor, Mrs. Talley, arrive to assist with the games for the kids and folks who enjoy participating in them. We had our usual games of the Duck Pond, Bounce House, Plinko, Football Throw, and Bingo, but we added Horseshoes, Fishing, and Stick Horse Races. The students also manned the sno-cone machine which was as busy as the Funnel Cake Station where popcorn was also available. Some of the attendees chose to wait for the grilled hamburgers and hot dogs that were being prepared by Jim Oberlander and Brian Siebert, along with all the fixins’ prepared by Dietary, to make room for the “real food”. All of this, of course, was set with the background music provided by Jon Scoville and Friends, with Shandra (Korbelik) Reinsch giving his group little break before she went inside to play for those residents and families who preferred to dine in the Skilled Dining Room. It was an absolutely “fantastic, fantastic” afternoon with many folks choosing to stay and visit as we returned the Pond Area to its usual peaceful and relaxing state.
