Elkhorn, NE: Virtual Reality

Finding new and exciting things for the residents to do can be a challenge. Everyone has different hobbies and interests. A wonderful CNA, Paul, from Brookestone Meadows stepped forward to offer the opportunity for the residents to use his virtual reality computer program. Virtual reality is a computer-generated simulation of a three-dimensional image or environment that can be interacted with in a seemingly real or physical way by a person using special electronic equipment, such as a helmet with a screen inside or gloves fitted with sensors.

The residents were able to do everything from exploring the ocean and play with the jellyfish to finding their specific old homes in other cities. Some were able to see their old town across the world! Several residents, one in particular who was a pilot, was able to fly around the Earth using “Google Earth.” Not every resident was too keen on the thought of using such technology but most who did give it a try, were absolutely thrilled. It was an enjoyable new experience for the residents.
