Lake City, IA: Shady Oaks Celebrates One Year Injury Free!

“Healthcare workers can be at risk when it comes to work place injuries,” commented Vetter Health Services Safety Coordinator Ed Remm. His remarks were made during an event at Shady Oaks Care Center on Thursday to honor the team for reaching the mark of one-year injury free.

Shady Oaks Care Center is deeply committed to the safety of their team members and residents. As part of our injury prevention efforts, Vetter Health Services takes time to recognize and celebrate with each facility that has attained “One Year — 365 days, 8,760 hours: Injury Free. Recently, Shady Oaks attained this wonderful achievement. A celebration was held to honor them that included a steak and chicken bar-be-que hosted by the Vetter Health Services Home Office team.

“We focus on ways we can be preventative and safe,” commented Jennifer Blair, Administrator at Shady Oaks Care Center. A big component in improving staff safety was training on how employees thought about workplace safety. “Just people realizing they are responsible for their own safety,” Blair said, adding that team members also began watching out for their co-workers safety.

We continually pursue opportunities to improve ourselves and the services we provide. We learn from our experiences, build on our successes, and make changes when changes are beneficial. We develop people’s strengths and remain committed to becoming the Best of the Best.
