Gering, NE: Irish Band Colcannon Performs!

When Heritage Estates Life Enrichment Coordinator, Joanie Hughey, heard the Irish Band Colcannon was going to be in town performing at the Midwest Theatre she immediately contacted them to see if there was any way she could get them to come to Heritage Estates to entertain our residents. Everyone teased her a bit, saying there was no way she could pull it off. Much to everyone surprise she was able to book them to perform at Heritage Estates on St. Patrick’s Day!

The band formed in 1984 in Boulder, Colorado, and their reputation has grown steadily over the years with the release of eight CD’s. The Emmy-award winning PBS special, “Colcannon in Concert,” filmed at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts has aired nationwide. The band plays authentic, joyous Irish music, traditional with a touch of chamber music. Timeless songs and great musicianship transport the audience to another time and place. Colcannon is equally at home on stage at a folk music festival, performing with a symphony orchestra or for the residents at Heritage Estates.

It was a very special performance on St. Patrick’s Day for the residents of Heritage Estates. Joanie deserves a hand of applause for her efforts in providing “Quality Life” for our residents. Thanks Joanie!
