In April, 2016, Ann Brunzell, was awarded a scholarship through the American Association of Nurse Assessment Coordinators. The scholarship she received was the Rena R. Shephard Scholarship and is awarded to a first time attendee to the AANAC conference. This scholarship had many applicants, but our own Ann Brunzell was chosen to receive the honor. This scholarship helps cover the costs of registration, lodging and airfare for the registrant. As Ann states, ” this scholarship helps with costs that could be prohibitive; I was so surprised and excited to represent Brookestone Meadows”!

Ann has been with Brookestone Meadows as a staff R.N. and did an outstanding job of caring for residents. Ann transitioned to an MDS role about two years ago. To know Ann is to understand her heart for those she cares for as well as those she works with. Ann is an incredible team member and is highly respected among her peers. Her interest in learning and performing her duties at the highest level is evident in everything she does as quoted from Ann’s application; “the more I perform my duties of the MDS position, the more I want to learn.” She is determined to help the floor nursing staff better understand the MDS process and how to support it with documentation.

Congratulations Ann on being awarded the Rena R. Shephard Scholarship, one of your many accomplishments!
