Grand Island, NE: Saturday Afternoon Baseball

Sometimes it’s the little things that make a person happy such as some Husker Baseball with a good friend on a Saturday afternoon. This past Saturday Al and Lew took in game two of a three part series against Northwestern. The Huskers played a three game series that began Friday evening at Hawks field in Lincoln. The Huskers won the three part series with two wins Friday and Saturday night they lost the finale game. These two gentlemen are table mates and friends enjoying many conversations about baseball over meals. Lew enjoys listening to Al reminisce about his days as a coach and his love of the game. Al was a baseball coach for what he estimates to be close to 30 years but he coached everything except swimming and wrestling for 32 years before retiring. Al has always been follower of Nebraska baseball; unlike Lew, who says he never had a lot of time to watch baseball except for the occasional world series game but sure enjoys listening to Al tell stories. What a wonderful thing to share on a weekend afternoon.
