Omaha, NE: Celebrating Life Stories-National Nursing Home Week

The theme of National Nursing Home Week 2018 was “Celebrating Life Stories.” Brookestone Village did just that! We hosted activities that celebrated our residents’ life stories. The activities revolved around the theme and included; 5 Things About Me coloring activity, a matching game, Bingo and guessing game for staff.
As a token of appreciation to our local service members, our resident bakers put together trays of freshly baked cookies, cupcakes and bars. We loaded up the bus and took our goodies out to our local police precinct and fire station. We were greeted by the Chief of Police and she met with each resident.
In the spirit of celebrating life stories, we hosted gatherings from different decades. We had a 1950’s style Soda Fountain in the Great Room and a Roaring 20’s Speakeasy. Residents and staff were encouraged to dress up for either party!
We thought to ourselves, “What is National Nursing Home Week, without a party?” So, we had our 2nd Annual Spring Fling. Residents, staff and family for face painting, balloon animals, a slime station and a barbecue. It takes a Village to pull off National Nursing Home Week!

Excellent Teams-We will select and develop team members who radiate warmth, compassion and respect while skillfully performing their duties.
