Hooper, NE: Nursing Home Week Day 1

Day one of Nursing Home week at Hooper Care Center started out with our Grand-friend Olympics. This year is a bit special as we have not seen our Grand-friends since December. The flu season kept the kids from visiting in Jan, Feb and March. April kept them at school for the testing. The third grade classes from Logan View normally alternate which class comes to see their grand- friend here at Hooper Care Center every other month. The Olympics is special as they all come together as one class. The classes split into 6 groups and rotate through six game stations. Residents and staff ran the wheel chair obstacle course, TIC-TAC-TOE, golf, toilet paper toss into the commode and spin on the bat, get dizzy and pop the balloon game. Unfortunately we had to hold the events inside this year as mother nature needed to water her creation this morning. As we also have the first day as Hat Day we had each third grader decorate their own ball cap. The classes ended up the morning with a Tug-of War between the two classes and ending with two teachers having a pull off. Lunch of hot dogs off the grill was served before they headed back to school. Such a fun day. One resident’s daughter requested photos be emailed to her in Texas so she could show everyone in Texas how Hooper Care Center knocks it out of the part by providing memories for the residents and kids to cherish forever.
