Garnett, KS: Back to the Farm and More!

At Parkview Heights, we are proud to be dedicated on our goal of helping provide rehabilitation that leads to greater levels of independence.  We work with individuals post-surgery, post-trauma/accident, and through comprehensive and interdisciplinary rehabilitation we help to achieve incredible outcomes.

Henry’s story is one of hard work, perseverance, and a positive outlook on life.  Henry is a cattleman and a farmer with a great work ethic and a warm smile and sense of humor.

Henry continues to overcome many difficult obstacles after an accident that had major impact on his  independence in daily living.  He became a dedicated partner in his rehabilitation with our Parkview Heights team members and therapy team members, along with active support from his physician.

After implementation of therapeutic interventions and some hard work Henry is now able to actively engage in our Life Enrichment groups and events including some personalized outings with our Maintenance Director Allan  or our Director of Nursing Nancy; Allan or Nancy will take Henry out to his farm where he and his wife lived for many years, as well as by the home he grew up in.  These visits provide many opportunities for engaging in familiar sights and reminiscing; Henry enjoys checking the crops, looking at the bulls, and making sure that the alfalfa was going to get another cut this year.  There have even been a few stops by a local sheep farm and elk farm.  We also recently offered motorcycle rides for our residents and Henry was able to take advantage of this great opportunity and enjoyed his trip on the motorcycle.

None of these experiences would be possible without the focused efforts of our talented rehabilitation team and the focused efforts of our entire Parkview Heights team to personalize Henry’s care and services, and of course Henry’s hard work and determination to meet his goals.  “Healing doesn’t mean the damage never existed, it means the damage no longer controls our lives.” – Unknown

Parkview Heights strives to “Change the view of long-term care” through offering comprehensive therapies that enhance independence, providing meaningful life enrichment that enhance well-being, and employing caring and compassionate team members that focus on the person’s life story and proactively look for ways to heal, create purpose, and meaning.

Quality Life:  We will create a living environment that radiates love, peace, spiritual contentment, dignity and safety, while encouraging personal independence.
