A Fond Farewell and New Beginnings for the Financial Services Team

When the ball drops, the confetti settles, and 2016 is officially in the books, Joani Schelm, Chief Financial Officer will retire from her position with Vetter Health Services – drawing her 18 years of service to a close.

Joani joined the VHS Family as the Corporate Treasurer in September 1998 when Eldora Vetter announced she was retiring.  Joani’s title changed to Director of Financial Services, then became Chief Financial Officer in 2009.

Joani’s dedication to the Mission, Vision, and Values of Vetter Health Services was admirable and evident in her leadership of the Financial Services Team and helped steer VHS on the Leadership Team.

“In every role and for 18 years Joani has been the gatekeeper of the VHS Stewardship commitment.”  Glenn Van Ekeren said during the announcement.

She plans to do a lot of traveling, especially to Montreal to visit her granddaughter Chloe and family as well as “get reacquainted with Don” (husband) who had also retired from VHS several years ago.  She promises to visit the Home Office from time to time.

The announcement of her retirement had come in mid-October which opened the door for new roles and promotions.  Brian Stuhr, Accountant Trainer, has been promoted to Director of Financial Services and will oversee the operations of the Financial Services Team – Aaron Dunlap, Controller, becomes Chief Financial Analyst – Deanna Dittmar, Senior Accountant, has been given a more appropriate title of Payroll Coordinator – and Jeri Lewis, Medicare Accountant, is now Reimbursement Manager.

We wish Joani the very best as she enters this new season in her life.  And as we look forward to a new year, with new beginnings, we will do our very best to mirror the example of stewardship she has modeled for us.

Thank you Joani for your service, your leadership, and your friendship!
